If you were to go to anyplace on earth and ask 20 active basketball fans, less than 3 of them would say they had expected the phoenix suns to go into playoff contention this season. I would like to remind you all that this is nearly the exact same team that had totaled 25 wins last season. Aside from the aquisition of point guard Eric Bledsoe, the suns did not make any key offseason moves. Of course much of the suns success is owed to the drastic improvement of Goran Dragic, who stepped up to the plate with Eric Bledsoe severely injured. He had exchanged last season's role of a solid starting point guard for the role of a franchise player this season. Another part of this teams success is owed to uniting the Morris brothers, who have proved to be one of the NBA's most explosive duos. But even after all these improvements, the Phoenix suns are still no better then a 35 win team, and are definitely not in playoff contention inside the crowded western conference. This teams success is owned mainly to the huge success of two former slam dunk contest participants, Gerald Green and Eric Bledsoe. Before this season, both where considered solid backup players, but , like Goran Dragic, stepped up to the plate on a team struggling to find its true purpose. These men have both started solid most improved player campaigns and, at the end of the day, the suns true success is owed to them.
